Davis Banjos are built by Tim Davis in North Carolina β€” a small private builder producing professional-grade banjos in a small shop. Tim designs and pours his own tone rings to his own specifications. His wife cuts the inlay by hand. Every Davis banjo uses a three-ply hard rock maple rim (the VT3 shell) and is built to the same dimensions as the prewar Gibsons that define the bluegrass sound.

Geoff has a signature model with Davis β€” the Hohwald Special, a mahogany banjo with wreath inlay. Tim also builds a Don Reno RB-3 replica that was developed after Tim borrowed Don Reno’s actual banjo, measured the tone ring, copied the neck dimensions, and even matched the white truss rod cover. That’s the kind of builder Tim is β€” he doesn’t approximate, he measures.

Davis banjos are made in America, sound like instruments at twice the price, and represent some of the best value in professional-grade banjos. Call Geoff at (404) 218-8580 to discuss availability.
