This is a Pre War Gibson Ball Bearing TB3 5 string Banjo.  This is an especially nice one as well.  The banjo sounds killer.  This includes a hardshell case and has been professionally set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

This is a maple banjo with nickel hardware.  The entire pot is original to the banjo except a refinished resonator.  The resonator is original but with new finish.  This is a ball bearing which means there is a series of balls and springs on the inside of the shell under the tone ring.  The neck is a CE Ward neck.  The neck is also maple with an ebony fretboard.  The fretboard has a diamonds inlay pattern as does the headstock.  One of the original thumb screws broke so this has one identical reproduction screw.  The armrest is a two piece armrest.  The tailpiece is an original Grover Patent Presto.  This also has D tuners.  This is one of the nicest sounding ball bearing banjos I have ever heard.  In addition it is a fantastic player.

Condition

This is in truly gorgeous condition.  The resonator looks incredible and the hardware glows!  It almost looks new!!!  The neck is in fantastic condition with a clean fretboard.  The frets show very little wear and only on the first few.  There are spikes on the 7th-10th frets and the 12th fret.  There are some exposed screw holes on the back of the headstock which are pictured.  This banjo looks incredible and considering it sounds so good really makes this a special piece.  The hardshell case is also super clean.

Set Up

All of our banjos are professionally set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.  This has very comfortable action that still allows for a lot of tone.  The banjo really feels great to play.  The head is set to 90 all the way around on a drum dial.  This has proper intonation.  This has a bridge with a W but I do not know who made it.  The head is also not marked but is frosted.  This has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.
