1929 Gibson TB-3 5 string conversion banjo
This is an all original banjo other than the Frank Neat conversion neck and the Blaylock conversion ring. The tone ring is a true conversion ring so the rim is not cut. This also includes the original tenor neck and raised head tone ring. The banjo is set up and plays really well and this is absolutely a pre war 3 sound. In fact this banjo is very loud.
Cosmetically it looks fantastic with very limited wear for a 85 year old banjo. The flange is flat for a prewar conversion but it is pulling slightly and I do mean slightly. There is also some button scratching on the back of the resonator. This is almost 100 years old and considering that it is super clean, regardless the banjo is in great shape and looks great on top of playing and sounding great.
The frets are very fat with almost no wear, there is a smidgeon of light wear on the first few frets but it is super light. This banjo had to be well taken care of but this neck has not been played hard, at least the frets and the fretboard look great. There is a rosewood fretboard with leaves and bows inlay. There are frets at the 7th-10 frets.
This 1929 Gibson TB-3 5 string conversion banjo also includes a Flint Hill case that says The Gibson on the front of the case. This is a killer pre war conversion with all original parts other than the conversion parts which are both absolutely professional grade parts. This has been completely set up and inspected here at the Banjo Warehouse, includes our Full Satisfaction Guarantee and a nice hardshell case. If you have any questions at all please ask. Thanks!!!!
