This is a powerful Gibson TB3 conversion Banjo made in 1929. Includes Huber HR30 Tone Ring and Frank Neat neck. This has been fully inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

This is a very special TB3 conversion that has a LOT of power. This has a Huber HR30 tone ring. The neck was made by Frank Neat. Steve Huber fit the tone ring and the neck which is a big plus. All of the hardware on the pot is original except the tone ring which is to be expected on a conversion. The flange is in great shape with limited pulling. In fact it is almost perfectly flat. The flange does have some pitting but it almost looks better like that!

The resonator and neck are both mahogany. The fretboard is rosewood with a Flying Eagle inlay pattern. The chalk in the resonator is perfect and the finish on the resonator is also super clean. That is the original finish. This is an extraordinary TB3 conversion with all the best parts. The banjo also includes a nearly new Superior Hardshell Case.

Condition

This banjo is in awesome shape especially considering the age. The hardware on the pot is super clean. There is pitting on the flange which was mentioned but the rest almost looks new!! That is original hardware. The resonator is clean inside and out. The neck is in fantastic shape. The fretboard is clean with clean frets. This is clean all the way around and inside and out. There are spikes at the 7th-9th frets. Even the case is clean. Everything about this banjo is top notch and in great shape.

Set Up

This has been set up here in the shop. This has great string height (action) and correct intonation. The head is set to 90 on a drum dial all the way around the head. The banjo has a frosted Remo Head and new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings. This is a true powerhouse and the set up has a lot to do with that. If you want a top notch Pre War conversion banjo in great shape that will turn heads this is it.
