1932 Gibson RB1 5 string Banjo ORIGINAL PRE WAR 5 STRING BANJO

This is an all original and very rare Gibson RB1.  The banjo is made of Maple and has Nickel hardware.  The neck is also Maple and has a Brazilian Rosewood fretboard.  The fretboard has a seagull inlay.  The banjo is very rare and has all original parts.  The original 5 string neck is a big deal.  Not only does it have Brazilian Rosewood it is now an 87 year old banjo.  The aged wood definitely improves the sound.  This banjo has the pre war sound but is also light.  Right now there is a presto tailpiece but the original pre war tailpiece is included.  This has a tone hoop which is original but also does not weigh the banjo down.  This also includes a nice hardshell case.

Condition

Overall the banjo is in great shape.  This is especially true considering its age.  The hardware does show pitting but is clean.  The resonator has a lot of scratching but it is the original finish.  The bottom of the resonator shows a couple of splits at the binding but that is not a big deal at all.  That does not effect the function and should not get worse.  Especially not any time soon.  The frets are thin and in fantastic condition.  There is also some sort of deep nick on the face of the headstock at the top.  This is definitely a used banjo but is overall clean and looks great.  We have this set up with a new head and it plays and sounds incredible.  The case is also clean.
