1932 Gibson TB1 5 string conversion Banjo
This banjo is the definition of pre war tone. This has been dragged through the mud, beat up, put back together and beat up again. This has a lot of wear that only adds to the authentic pre war sound of this banjo. I want to make sure to emphasize that this is a very worn banjo that has been shown a lot of attention. Some people believe that instruments have a life of their own and the more use they get the better they get. This is an example of exactly that.
The pot is all original other than the Huber HR30 tone ring and the key to a good pre war conversion is as much originality as possible. The inside of the resonator has some exposed holes that serve as a sign that the supports for the thumb screws were moved around. Also there are some smaller drill holes exposed on the outside of the shell from the brackets being moved around. This banjo shows a lot of history but the banjo has now been restored to function.
On top of all of the wear in the wood the metal is also tarnished on the flange and tension hoop. This is not a banjo for a picky collector about condition!!!! We have gone through this and can confirm this is put together well. We also have set this set up for maximum tone and playability. This also includes a hardshell case.
If you are looking for a pre war to play this is it. If you want the best in pre war tone this TB1 conversion banjo is for you.
