1936 Gibson MB3 5 string conversion Banjo

This is a super cool 1936 Gibson MB3 conversion Banjo with a Huber HR30 tone ring and Huber neck.  This has been fully inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This has a maple resonator with nickel hardware and a 3 ply hard rock maple shell.  This has all original hardware except for a newer Prucha Presto Tailpiece.  This has a Huber HR30 tone ring which is regarded as the best tone ring to convert a Pre War Banjo with.  The neck was also made by Steve Huber and is curly maple with a rosewood fretboard.  The fretboard has a Flying Eagle inlay.  There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator.  This is a fantastic looking banjo that is put together with incredible parts.  This also includes a newer Superior Hardshell Case.

Condition

The wood and finish are original and also look really good.  The hardware shows some age but is definitely in good shape for a 100 year old banjo.  The neck and fretboard are both clean and the frets look incredible.  There is a hint of wear on the first couple of frets but the rest are basically perfect.  This is in really good shape for a Pre War Banjo and the Superior Case is also in great shape.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.  This has a new Huber frosted head that is set to 90 on a drum dial.  The bridge is also a new Huber bridge and this has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.  The banjo has nice action which is adjustable and this definitely produces a wonderful tone and a lot of volume.  This also has correct intonation.  This is an exceptional banjo with some fantastic parts that has been well taken care of and is set up to be a cannon.
