1936 Gibson TB1 5 string Banjo

This is a really nice Pre War TB1 conversion Banjo with a Frank Neat neck and Huber Tone Ring.  The banjo has been fully inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

This is a maple banjo with nickel hardware.  This is a one piece flange banjo.  The neck is a gorgeous curly maple with a rosewood fretboard.  The fretboard has a Flying Eagle inlay pattern.  There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator.  The armrest is an original one piece armrest.  The tailpiece is an original Grover Patent Presto Tailpiece.  The banjo is all original other than the neck, tone ring and the resonator has been refinished to match the neck.  The neck is a Frank Neat neck and the tone ring is a Huber Vintage Tone Ring.  This is a gorgeous and exceptional Pre War Banjo with a very nice hardshell case.

Condition

The banjo is definitely in great shape.  The finish and wood look incredible.  The hardware is also in great shape with light pitting and tarnish.  It’s in really great shape considering the age.  The fretboard is clean with clean frets.  Only the first few frets have wear and that wear is light.  There are spikes at the 7th-10th frets.  This is a beautiful banjo with a clean and deluxe hardshell case.

Set Up

The banjo has been set up here at the shop.  This has comfortable action which really produces some incredible tone.  The banjo has proper intonation.  The head has been set to 90 on a drum dial all the way around the head.  This has a Huber bridge with an ebony cap.  The head is an American Banjo Supply frosted head which is clean.  This also has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.  This is set up to play and sound incredible.
