1955 Gibson RB100 Thick Shell 5 string Banjo

This is a Vintage 1955 Gibson RB100 Banjo with a Thick Shell.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This is an all original 1955 Gibson RB100 with a Thick Shell and a One piece flange.  I want to mention the neck is not the best neck so I have the action set higher then I normally like.  However I also know a lot of players that set their banjo up like this and this set up does produce better tone.  The strings may be higher then I like but this is still a functional instrument.

This has a thick original maple shell with a maple neck and resonator.  The fretboard is rosewood with dots.  The hardware is all original and includes an original one piece flange.  This banjo definitely has the Vintage Gibson sound and the thick shell and one piece flange are very significant in that.  This also includes a new padded gig bag.

Condition

This banjo is in great shape and has been cleaned in our shop.  There is some pitting in the metal but not much.  All of the hardware has been disassembled and buffed to a nice shine.  The finish looks great already but we also waxed that to a nice shine.  The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled with clean frets and spikes at frets 7 and 9.  The armrest and the face of the headstock have a bit of wear but not much at all.  This is in really good shape and has been cleaned in our shop.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.  The head is a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90.  The bridge is a Grover and the intonation is set.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and this is playing great and sounds incredible.  This is definitely a phenomenal banjo as far as tone is concerned and will deliver the authentic Vintage tone.
