1957 Gibson Country Western Acoustic Guitar

This is a gorgeous and very clean 1957 Gibson Country Western Guitar.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This is a blonde variation of a Gibson SJ and plays and sounds incredible.  This also happens to be very clean for a 60 year old guitar.

This has solid Mahogany sides and back with a solid Sitka Spruce top.  The neck is solid mahogany and this has a rosewood fretboard.  The fretboard has trapezoid inlay.  There is white binding on each side of the neck.  The front and back each have w/b/w/b/w/b/w binding (white with 3 black pinstripes).  The pickguard is a tortoise pickguard (I’m sure fake tortoise).  This has the original rosewood bridge.  I’m not sure if the saddle or bridge are original but I know the tuner buttons are new.  The tuners themselves are original.  This includes a newer Gibson Hardshell Case.

This is really a nice guitar for a late 1950’s Gibson and really sounds great.  These are not the easiest to find especially in this condition.

Condition

This guitar is definitely clean.  There is a good bit of light and short checks on the top and a bit of button scratching on the back.  That is about all of the wear.  Other than the checks the top is super clean.  There isn’t any of the normal pick wear around the sound hole which is common for guitars from this era.  The finish on the back has some buttons scratching which almost can’t be seen but the rest is tight and beautiful.  The neck and fretboard are both really clean and the frets are also in fantastic shape.  The frets are beautiful.  This makes sense because the rest of the guitar is so clean.  This is absolutely gorgeous and the case is also super clean.

This is set up to play and sounds and plays great.  This is a stellar example of a 1950’s Gibson Acoustic that would make any player happy.  We have a lot of really cool guitars, check out the site.
