1970’s Gibson RB250 5 string Banjo

This is a 1970’s RB250 with a 2 piece flange. This is all original except for the resonator binding and a repair on the neck under the headstock. This has been fully inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

This is a mahogany banjo with nickel hardware. The neck is also mahogany with an ebony fretboard. The fretboard has a leaves and bows inlay pattern. There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator. The binding on the neck has yellowed and the binding on the resonator is white because it has been replaced. The finish is original and all of the hardware is also original. This has a Gibson armrest and an original Clam Shell Tailpiece. The banjo has a 2 piece flange. The neck had a repair under the headstock which was done professionally. The banjo plays great and has no functional issues and is also a good looking banjo.

Condition

The banjo is in good shape but it does show some wear. The finish is in great shape with no serious wear. The hardware is all very clean as is the fretboard. The frets are clean as well with limited wear. There are no spikes in the banjo because it used to have a 5th string capo. The capo has been removed but there are still 2 tiny holes which mounted the capo. The banjo is a really good looking banjo that has no functional issues. The case is clean.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up here at the shop. This has nice string height that feels great to play while still producing great tone. The banjo has a clean Remo frosted head that has been set to 90 on a drum dial. The banjo also has correct intonation. The bridge has no name on it. This is a great opportunity to get a rock solid Gibson Mastertone banjo at a great price. This looks great, sounds great and plays great.
