This is a first year 1976 Pre Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 1 6 string electric guitar MADE IN USA. The guitar has been inspected and set up by the Stingray Man at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This is a very early 1976 Music Man Stingray 1 guitar which has original Radio Knobs. Radio Knobs were only used on the very first Music Man guitars. This also has a white pickguard which is original and also was only featured on the earliest Stingray Guitars. The guitar is all original.

The pickups are long pole and also go down into what I call the Thunder Pocket. This is a routed area under the pickup which the Long Poles sit into. This does create a type of tone that is very rich and warm with a lot of body. This was stopped by 1979.

This has a natural finish with all chrome hardware. There is a volume and two tone knobs with a 3 way switch for the two humbucker pickups. There is also a switch which I am not sure what it does but I can say I can tell it is working because it does effect the sound when selected. The guitar weighs 9 pounds and 12 ounces and includes a nice leather gig bag.

Condition

This is definitely in fantastic shape and has been professionally cleaned by the Stingray Man. There is some wear in the finish on the fretboard around the first 5 frets plus some of the finish on the sides of the neck have worn down. There are some other light surface scratches in the finish but not much. Finally there is a tiny crack in the pickguard right above the neck pickup. It is so small that we didn’t see it until we took the pickguard off.

I have taken the guitar apart and waxed all of the finish to a shine. I buff all of the hardware and that is glowing also. The frets are in fantastic shape with only light wear. All of the electronics are clean and everything is working. This guitar has new D’addario .10 gauge electric guitar strings and this is playing great!!! This is absolutely a quality instrument that is prepared and set up to perform at it’s peak.
