1976 Music Man Stingray Bass

This is a very cool and very early 1976 Music Man Stingray Bass with original RADIO KNOBS!!  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse by the Stingray Man.

Description

This is a very early 1976 Stingray Bass.  When I found it someone had put on new knobs and a new pickguard and I believe that is because this was originally a Radio Knob.  I happened to have an original White Pickguard and original Radio Knobs so I put those on.  This is definitely a 1976 and this feels and sounds like a Radio Knob so I believe I have restored it to what it should be.

This has original sunburst finish, all original hardware, original neck, body, all original electronics, everything about this is a 1976 except for a couple pots and the nut.  There are two pots from 1977 but they are original Music Man.  The nut is a new bone nut and is the only part on the bass that isn’t original.

The bass weighs 10 pounds 2 ounces.  This has original John Holmes Long Pole Pickups and an original epoxy covered preamp.  This also is string through body.  The body is dated October 13 1976 and the neck is December 23 1976.  This is definitely a good one.  This also includes a Music Man Original Case that is not period correct to 1976.  I believe these cases were introduced in 1979.

Condition

This bass is worn.  There is LOTS of checking and LOTS of patina.  The body has some sort of unusual wear on the front and possibly some light overspray on the back.  The frets are in fantastic shape and are thin wire so I believe they are original.  The wear on this bass I believe came more from weathering then excessive use.  The case is solid but also pretty worn.  This is a bass for someone that wants a well played instrument.

This is set up and all of the electronics work and this is ready to go.  If you want a very rare and very special Stingray Bass this is for you.
