This is a very clean and all original First Year Pre Ernie Ball Stingray Guitar.  This is a Radio Knob.  The guitar has been inspected and set up by the Stingray Man at Banjo Warehouse.

Description

This is a first year radio knob that has all the best features.  Some of the very first Music Man instruments featured Radio Knobs which likely was related to the fact Leo Fender was a radio repairman originally.  The Radio Knob Basses are more sought after then any variation of the Stingray, at least they will bring the most money.  This guitar has radio knobs, and has long pole pickups.  The body has routing under the pickups which is original and creates a deeper tone.  This guitar has more body then a 1978 Music Man Stingray because of this.  The guitar also has an epoxy preamp and is a string through body design.  This is a special, early and all original Stingray Guitar.

If you look at the pic of the neck pocket which is on the BANJO WAREHOUSE website you will see the date is in pencil.  There was only pencil dating on the very first guitars and basses.  They switched to stamps before the end of 1976.

The guitar also happens to be very clean.  This is a beautiful example and definitely more collectable then a later Stingray Guitar.  This guitar includes a clean original case.

Condition

This guitar is stunning and has been cleaned by the Stingray Man.  This has been disassembled and all of the finish waxed to a shine.  The metal parts have been buffed with a high powered buffer and all of this guitar glows.  The frets are in fantastic condition all the way down the board.  This guitar is super clean, all of the electronics work and have been cleaned and this comes with a clean original case.  Keep in mind this is also a very early 1st year Radio Knob.

This also has new strings and is set up and ready to go.  These first year Stingray Guitars do not come up for sale like this often.
