Description

This is a 1977 Music Man Stingray Bass that was made prior to the Ernie Ball musical instruments. This bass is very worn but this has all the right parts, mojo and love. This has a string through body and an epoxy covered preamp, along with a pocket routed out of the center of the body under the pickups. This bass is the shit. These Pre Ernie Basses have become impossible to find so I am offering some up so people can have a chance to own one of these beautiful instruments.

The body has an original Natural finish and the neck is a one piece maple neck which has been refretted and probably refinished. The hardware is chrome and all original except it is missing the mute kit. This is a string through body which means the strings go through the bridge and the body. This string through design has been proven to improve resonance and tonal response and these Pre Ernie Stingrays are exceptional.

The electronics are all original Pre Ernie Ball Music Man and that is enormous. This bass has the parts that people want when they are searching for these and this has a true growl.

This has new frets and a new nut but I believe this to be all original otherwise. This comes with an SKB hardshell case.

Condition

This bass is extremely worn. I refer to instruments that get to this place as an Organic Relic. There are people that pay $1000s to have what was done to this naturally. The function is still top notch, everything works, the electronics are clean and the bass plays great. This is a bass for someone that wants solely to enjoy the sound and feel of the instrument, not a “collector”.
