Description

This is a Bass that I put together out of a bunch of original Pre Ernie Ball Stingray Bass Parts I had accumulated here at the Banjo Warehouse. Everything is Pre Ernie Ball except the Preamp and Pickguard. The Preamp is one of the rare Ernie Ball Vintage Music Man Stingray replacement preamps which is incredible. The Pickguard is the same pickguard that was used on the Ernie Ball Radio Knob reissue bass. This bass is exceptional and lightweight at 8 pounds 14.8 ounces.

This has a 1977 body with the original Sunburst finish. The neck is a 1978. The pickups are 1977 Music Man Stingray pickups and all of the pots are Pre Ernie Ball as well. There is the routing in the pickup cavity that I call the Thunder Pocket which is very significant in producing the best Pre Ernie Ball Tone. The neck has original frets, nut, finish, decal and tuners. This bass has all the good stuff and plays and sounds incredible.

This has the classic Cliff Williams AC/DC look and sound and also comes with a vintage style hardshell case. On top of this there is routing under the pickguard for one humbucker pickup which has been removed.

Condition

The bass is not in bad shape but this does have wear, this is a vintage instrument that has been played. There is wear in the finish on the neck and bridge. The metal has patina but it looks good with the organic relic in the finish. The pickguard is new so it is bright white and in great shape. The hardshell case is in really good shape inside and out.

There also are 2 screw holes in the knob plate with no screws. This is because a bit of the wood is missing underneath and the screws cannot be secured in the wood.

If you want the true low end tone and funky highs of a Music Man try this bass. This is truly a funk machine particularly because it is light weight.
