1977 Music Man Stingray Bass

This is an all original Pre Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray Bass from early 1977 with very rare White Long Pole Pickups. This has been inspected and set up by the Stingray Man at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This has a natural finish with a black pickguard and white long pole pickups. The bass is all original other then a new nut and missing mute kit but I will include an Ernie Ball Stingray Classic Mute kit for free. The hardware is all chrome plated including a string through body bridge. The pots are all dated 1977 and this has an epoxy preamp as well. This weighs 11 pounds 2 ounces. This bass really pops and thumps and these early 1977 electronics are a huge factor in that.

The neck has a break which was repaired right under the headstock and all of the finish on the back of the neck has been sanded off. The repair is definitely a clean repair but the neck has been repaired. The finish being sanded off is a bonus for function because this can be fretted much faster with the smooth neck. This also includes a vintage Pre Ernie Ball Stingray original hardshell case. The case is in great shape

Condition

This is definitely a player with wear but the wear is purely cosmetic. Even the neck repair is such a clean repair that no function has been effected. The finish on the body is highly patinad with a lot of checking. The neck finish is also very patinad and the hardware has a lot of patina also. The frets are in great shape and I believe the frets have been leveled. There is a possibility this is also a refret.

This is a worn bass but the wear makes it look super cool, this has the vintage vibe.

This has been set up by the Stingray Man with new strings and man does this pop!!! This has that early Pre Ernie Ball tone that people want. If you want a very early Stingray Bass but don’t want to spend $7500 this could be a really good option for you!!
