This is a gorgeous Japanese Made Vintage Gold Star GF85 Banjo. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This is a vintage Gold Star GF85 and these old Japanese Gold Stars have become POPULAR. The reason for this is these banjos produce a better sound then Gibson Mastertones that were made during the same era. This is a fantastic and all original example that has been professionally cleaned and set up at our shop.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a mahogany neck and resonator each with white binding. The hardware is nickel and all original including a one piece flange and 20 hole tone ring. The fretboard is rosewood with a leaves and bows inlay. This banjo is gorgeous and is truly a professional design. This is all original with a clean original hardshell case.

Condition

This is in great shape and has been professionally cleaned at our shop. The only significant wear at all is a chunk of the tip of the back of the headstock was knocked out. That is pictured and the rest of the banjo is stunning.

The banjo was disassembled and we buffed all of the metal with a high powered buffing wheel to a shine. The finish is clean and has also been waxed to a shine. The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled and the frets are in good shape with no spikes or 5th string capo. This definitely was not played hard. The banjo is in fantastic shape and the original case is clean as well.

Set Up

This has been set up at our shop. The head is a Remo frosted head which I believe is original and has been set to 90. The bridge is a Snuffy Smith and the strings are new Huber Truetone .10’s. This is definitely a pro grade banjo that has been cleaned and set up to look, play and sound it’s best.
