Description
This 1978 Stelling Staghorn is a walnut banjo with nickel hardware. The neck is walnut with an ebonall fretboard. Ebonall was a special material and is rare. This has gorgeous abalone inlay on the sides of the resonator and the sides of the neck. In addition there is white binding on the resonator, neck and headstock. The headstock has a special Staghorn inlay on top of the Stelling logo and the fretboard as well has a gorgeous inlay going all down the fretboard. The hardware is nickel and is in excellent shape. The tailpiece is engraved with the word Stelling as is the flange underneath the tailpiece. This is a gorgeous work of art and is an early example of fantastic Stelling production.
Condition
The banjo is definitely in good shape. The frets are showing wear but this plays great. There is no buzz and the banjo has no problems, this definitely was played and is a vintage piece. There are spikes at the 7th, 9th and 10th frets. This has been set up here at the Banjo Warehouse and as with all of our banjos is sold with a FULL SATISFACTION GUARANTEE.
Sound and Playability
The walnut gives this a dark almost haunting tone. The banjo is loud and clear. This is the authentic Stelling Sound. The aged wood adds to the beautiful tone. This is set up and plays great. The banjo plays fast with great volume.
