1979 Gold Star GF100W 5 string Banjo

This is a vintage Made in Japan 1979 Gold Star GF100W 5 string Banjo. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This was made in Japan in the 1970’s which was a time of great excellence in musical instrument manufacturing. Japanese banjos were actually built better than American Banjos of the same era and this is a great example of that.

This has a maple shell with a mahogany neck and resonator. The hardware is nickel. The fretboard is rosewood and this has a Wreath inlay pattern. There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator. This has a one piece armrest and a vintage Presto tailpiece. The tone ring is a nickel plated 20 hole tone ring. This banjo is all original and is a professional quality banjo. This will give the player a strong and quality sound and a very good playing experience. Condition

This is definitely in great shape. The wood and finish are all clean with very little sign of wear. The hardware looks incredible, this is a shiny banjo. The neck and fretboard are clean and the frets show very little wear. There is a hint of wear on the first few frets but that is it. There are spikes at the 7th and 9th frets. This banjo definitely was well taken care of and shows very little wear. The case is also clean.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up here at the Banjo Warehouse. The head is a new Huber frosted head by Remo which is set to 90 on a drum dial. I don’t know what kind of bridge that is but it is set with correct intonation. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action feels great. This is a great player with some fantastic tone and volume. This is one of the best possible options for a banjo under $1000 and is clean and set up to please.
