1979 Vintage Stelling Staghorn

This is a very rare and early Stelling Staghorn 5 string Banjo. The banjo is made of walnut with nickel hardware. The neck is also walnut. This has an ebonall fretboard which was used only on the earliest of Stelling banjos. The fretboard has a gorgeous Staghorn inlay pattern. The headstock is also inlaid. There is white binding on each side of the neck and the resonator. There is also abalone binding on each side of the neck and resonator. There is a Wood Staghorn inlaid into the back of the resonator. This is all original except for 1 lug and lug nut. There is a picture of a lug that looks a little larger than the rest of the lugs and that is the only non original part. This includes a Superior Hardshell Case.

Condition

This is truly in fantastic shape. Especially for the age. The walnut resonator looks incredible as does the neck. The fretboard is clean. All of the inlay was done well and still looks great. The hardware is also clean with minimal age and tarnish. The only noticeable spot is on the center of the resonator a very small amount of wear can be found around the staghorn wood inlay. There is a closeup of this spot and the larger lug nut at the end of the photo gallery. The banjo is set up to play fast and is LOUD. This is in great shape, looks great and sounds and plays incredible. The Superior hardshell case is also in fantastic condition.
