This is a gorgeous 1981 Gibson RB250 with engraved and upgraded hardware. This has been inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.

1981 Gibson RB250 Banjo Description

This is a super cool RB250 with a 2 piece flange and engraved hardware. This has an upgraded solid no hole tone ring which is a very big bonus. This is absolutely an upgrade. This also has a one piece armrest and a Presto tailpiece which are both engraved. The tension hoop is also engraved. This is all professional engraving that is a very nice touch. This also has new upgraded tuners and a pearl heel cap. The resonator, shell, neck and flange are all original. The shell is an original 5 ply Gibson shell which is a quality shell. The 2 piece flange RB250 banjos from this period are probably the best value in a Gibson Banjo that are available. This is a great example of an upgraded version of one of these with an original hardshell case.

Condition

The banjo is absolutely in great shape. All of the hardware and the finish look good. There is some minor wear on the back of the neck but it truly is minor. The fretboard is in good shape and the frets are clean as well. There is a hint of fretwear on the first few frets but it is light. There are spikes at the 7th-9th frets. The original case is clean on the inside with some signs of wear on the outside of the case.

Set Up

This has been set up here at the shop. This plays great with correct intonation. The head is set to 90 on a drum dial all the way around the head. This has a clean Remo Frosted head. The banjo has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings. The bridge has an L stamp. This is a very attractive banjo with some nice upgrades. This looks great, feels great, sounds great and plays great!!!
