1982 Music Man Stingray Bass

This is an absolutely gorgeous and definitely special Pre Ernie Ball Stingray Bass.  This has been inspected and set up by the Stingray Man at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This is a very special bass that is super clean.  This was made in the Pre Ernie Ball era and I am dating this at 1982.  This has gorgeous grain in the body and the neck has some very nice birdseye maple.  This is all original.

This has an Ash body with original finish.  The neck is a one piece maple neck that also has original finish.  All of the hardware is original.  This has a top loader bridge and this is an active bass with the original preamp.  All of the pots are original and are dated 1980, 1981 and 1982.  There is no date in the neck pocket so I am dating this at 1982 and the serial number is B025076.

The neck is made of birdseye maple and this really is a nice neck.  Necks with birdseye like this on Pre Ernie Ball Stingrays are rare.  This is also a clean neck.  On top of this the grain in the body looks incredible.  The bass weighs 10 pound 10.8 ounces which is average for an old Stingray.  This also includes modern Ernie Ball Case.  This is a very nice Pre Ernie Ball bass and these are getting very hard to find.

Condition

This is gorgeous.  The finish looks great and in some ways new.  The hardware also looks incredible and has a mirror shine.  The first few frets have some wear but there is still a lot of life in the frets.  There is no buzzing.  Everything works and the electronics are clean as well.  This still has the original mute pads and those are also clean.  The case is definitely in great shape but one of the latches is broken.  That does not effect the case and it is still sturdy and functional.

These basses are definitely becoming rare and this has a lot of nice elements and is Pre Ernie Ball.
