This is an all original and clean Stelling Bellflower that is custom made with Maple.  The banjo has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

Geoff Stelling is regarded as having made some of the finest Bluegrass Banjos in history.  He has recently retired which has caused his banjos to become very hard to find.  This is a relatively early example of a Stelling Banjo that is cleaned up, set up and ready to go.

This has a curly maple neck and resonator which is custom.  The Bellflower typically has walnut.  The fretbaord is ebony with some nice inlay work.  There is w/b/w binding on each side of the neck and resonator.

The hardware is nickel and all original including a Stelling One Piece Ribbon Flange and a No Hole Stelling Tone Ring.  This banjo is powerful and absolutely captures the essence of the Stelling Banjo.  This is all original and includes an original Stelling Hardshell Case.

Condition

This banjo is in great shape and has been professionally cleaned at our shop.  The only noticeable wear is a small amount of nickel worn off the armrest and some extremely light pitting on the flange.  I am talking minor.  Everything else has been cleaned and already was clean so now the banjo as a whole is glowing.

The hardware has been buffed with a high powered buffer and shines.  The finish has been waxed and also shines.  The frets and fretboard are in good shape and the fretboard has been cleaned and oiled.  There are spikes at frets 7,9 and 10.  This definitely is in great shape.  The case has a bit of wear and it looks like a new handle but the case is also in good shape.  There is a pic of Bugs Bunny on the case which I left on but could easily be cleaned off.

Set Up

This has been set up at our shop.  The head is a new Huber Frosted Head and is set to 90.  The bridge is a Scorpion Bridge and this has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.  The banjo is playing great and this definitely captures the true Stelling tone.  This banjo is absolutely ready to go and someone is going to be thrilled with this.
