Description

1988 Granadas are regarded by many to be the best Gibson Granadas made after the Pre War Gibson period. These are exceptional with a lot of tone and very loud. The best of these Granadas include the rare and coveted AFP Richard Kulesh Sr Tone Ring. This banjo has the AFP Kulesh Tone Ring which adds another layer of tone and volume. This is also super clean, all original and includes the original Gibson USA hardshell case.

This has a curly maple neck and resonator with original Gold Hardware. The hardware is engraved with the Granada pattern and includes an original Gibson one piece flange and original AFP Kulesh Tone ring. The fretboard is rosewood with a Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern and this has original Gold Waverly tuners.

This also includes a clean Gibson USA hardshell case.

Make no mistake this is not a normal Gibson Granada. 1988 Granadas rarely come up for sale because they are so special and so sought after. This is a powerful machine that will satisfy you.

Condition

This is in overall fantastic shape, this is super clean. The finish on the neck and resonator are nearly perfect. There is some checking on the face of the headstock which is not too serious. There is also a light coat of grazing on the back of the resonator which is extremely common on Rich era banjos. In fact it is a good sign to have this grazing because it helps support that this is the original finish.

The gold is in fantastic shape. There is a bit of tarnish on the ring on the right side of the banjo. The rest of the gold is nearly perfect including the armrest which is the most common spot to get wear.

The fretboard and frets are basically perfect all the way down and this has spikes in frets 7,8,9 and 10. This is not only a very special banjo functionally this is in extraordinary condition and the original case is clean as well.

Set Up

This is set up with a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge is a Sosebee and this has new Huber strings. This is not only a very special instrument to begin with this banjo is set up to maximize performance.

This banjo has been cleaned up, set up and is ready to go!!!
