Description

This is a Gibson RB3 Banjo that was made very early into the Greg Rich era at Gibson in 1988. This also happens to be the first RB3 made in the Rich era with a Flying Eagle inlay pattern. This will peel paint off the walls, is in great shape and is also signed on the inside by Greg Rich and Doug Hutchens.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell and a mahogany neck and resonator. The neck is also mahogany and has a rosewood fretboard with a Flying Eagle inlay pattern. There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator. The tuners are 5 star planets.

This has all original hardware including a Gibson USA One Piece Flange and a Gibson 20 Hole Tone Ring. This also includes a Gibson USA original 1988 Hardshell Case.

Condition

This is in excellent condition. The hardware is in great shape with little tarnish at all. The finish on the wood is super clean all the way around the resonator and up the neck. The fretboard and frets are also super clean all the way down. This banjo is stunning.

This has spikes at frets 7and 9. The case is also super very clean with some light wear on the outside and very clean inside.

Set Up

This is set up with a new Remo frosted head set to 90. The bridge is a Dotson and this has new Huber strings. The banjo is a stellar player and is set up for easy playing and strong volume and tone production.

This is an extraordinary RB3 that is set up and ready to peel paint off the walls. It also has some nice historic value and is signed by two Gibson Banjo legends. Buy it now!!!
