Gibson Granada – 1989 Greg Rich-Era
Purchasing a Greg Rich-Era Gibson Granada banjo is an opportunity to own an extraordinary-sounding instrument and a piece of history.Â
This banjo is in excellent condition. It features standard, period-correct gold-plated hardware with Granada engraving. The gold is in pristine condition.
We contacted Gibson Banjo historian Doug Hutchens, who has access to the original Gibson production records, about the wreath inlay pattern on this instrument. He found no mention of the wreath inlay pattern for the Granada model from this year. Hutchens did say that during the late eighties some Rich-era Granada banjos had inlay patterns that aren’t noted in production records.
So, we are selling this banjo as though it has a high-quality neck that could potentially be non-original.Â
The frets are in very good condition with minor wear. Spikes are on 7 and 9. The neck and resonator have beautiful curly maple wood and virtually no wear.Â
This banjo comes with a period-correct Gibson case.Â
