This is a 1990 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard 5 string Banjo with a 1997 Gibson USA Kulesh Tone Ring.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

The Earl Scruggs Standard is a copy of the banjo played by Earl Scruggs.  Earl played a Granada which he changed the gold to nickel hardware and added an ebony fretboard with Hearts and Flowers.  That is what this is and this is absolutely the most popular model of modern Gibson Banjos.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a curly maple neck and resonator.  The fretboard is ebony with Hearts and Flowers.  The hardware is nickel and all original including a Gibson USA one piece flange and a Gibson USA Kulesh Tone Ring.  The tone ring is not original to the banjo but is an original Gibson Kulesh Ring from 1997.  The banjo has all original Gibson parts except for the tuners.  This is hand signed in light blue on the label by Earl Scruggs which is a really nice touch.  This banjo has a lot of power and definitely is at the top of professional quality.  This includes a hardshell case.

Condition

This is in excellent condition and has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse.  The banjo has been disassembled and all of the hardware has been buffed and looks great.  The finish is in great shape and has been waxed and has a nice shine.  The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled and the frets are in overall good shape.  There is some light fretwear but no buzzing or functional issues.  This has no spikes but we can add them and there are a few holes in the side of the neck from a 5th string capo which was removed.  The banjo is definitely in excellent condition with minimal wear and the case is in great shape with some light wear on the outside.

Set Up

This has been set up at our shop.  This has a new Huber frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge is a Sosebee bridge and the intonation is correct.  The banjo has new Huber strings and this is a fantastic player as well.  This banjo not only has the tone and volume but it is a thrill to play.  This is the most popular model of Gibson Banjo made in the Rich era that is cleaned up, set up and ready to go!
