Description

The Earl Scruggs Standard is the absolute best selling model for Gibson Banjos. This is a copy of the banjo played by Earl Scruggs and has a type of pop and bang that only this design can produce. This is a very special example of a Scruggs Standard as well. This is an early Greg Rich era with the original factory Gibson Keith D Tuners and an AFP Kulesh Tone ring. This also has an original Deluxe Gibson USA Hardshell case with the original Earl Scruggs Standard pamphlet and original Gibson USA owners manual. And this is super clean. This is essentially the dream Earl Scruggs Standard and is set up and ready to go.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a curly maple neck and resonator. The fretboard is ebony with a Hearts and flowers inlay pattern. Each side of the neck has w/b/w binding.

The hardware is nickel and all original including a Gibson USA one piece flange and a 20 hole Gibson USA AFP Kulesh Tone Ring. Plus this has original Gibson stamped tuners on 1 and 4 and original Gibson Factory Keith D Tuners with Gibson stamped on the casing and buttons. This banjo is out of control cool.

On top of all of this this was hand signed by Earl Scruggs on the label inside the banjo.

The case is the original Deluxe Gibson USA Hardshell Case and the original case candy paperwork is included as well. This is a very special package.

Condition

This banjo is in superb condition. The hardware glows. The wood and finish are in fantastic shape with a very nice shine. This is truly a time capsule banjo.

The frets are nearly perfect and the fretboard is super clean WITH NO SPIKES OR 5TH STRING CAPO. The lack of a 5th string capo system is more evidence this banjo was hardly played. I want to mention we will not put spikes in this banjo because it truly is a rarity to find a banjo this clean and untouched.

The case is also super clean. This is a gem.

Set Up

This is set up with a Remo frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge is a Snuffy Smith and the strings are Huber and this also is a super player. This banjo has a lot of pop and is set up to be a thrill to play. This is a really good example of a serious powerhouse Scruggs Standard Banjo and is set up and ready to go!!
