1992 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard

This is a very cool Greg Rich era Scruggs Standard from 1992 with a Gibson Case.  This has been inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This is a very cool 1992 Rich era Earl Scruggs Standard.  The banjo happens to have the very rare Gibson stamped D tuners.  That is a big plus.  This also has a Kulesh Gibson USA tone ring.

This is a copy of the banjo that was played by Earl Scruggs.  The resonator is flamed maple and this has nickel hardware.  The shell is a 3 ply hard rock maple shell.  The neck is also flamed maple and this has an ebony fretboard.  The fretboard has a Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern with an extra inlay at the first fret.  This is all original except for a new label on the inside and two new tuning keys.  Someone took out the original label and put in a vintage style label.  The new keys are Sullivan keys and are probably an upgrade.  This also includes the original case.

Scruggs Standard banjos are the most popular model and there is something magical about the Greg Rich era which this is.

Condition

This is definitely an overall clean banjo.  All of the wood and finish look great.  The hardware really glows!!!  The neck is clean and straight but the fretboard shows some wear.  I have some extra pictures to show that.  There is also some light fretwear particularly on the first few frets.  There are spikes at frets 7, 9 and 11.  This has no functional issues and is overall clean with some light wear on the frets and fretboard.  The original case is clean.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.  This has a new Huber frosted head by Remo.  The bridge is a no name bridge with an ebony cap.  This has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.  The banjo has nice string height (action) and correct intonation.  This also is fully adjustable.  This is absolutely a professional quality banjo that would thrill any player.
