1993 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard 5 string Banjo

This is an all original 1993 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard 5 string Banjo. This has been fully inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

This has a curly maple resonator with a curly maple neck and ebony fretboard. The shell is a 3 ply hard rock maple shell. This has nickel hardware. The banjo is also all original. The armrest is a one piece armrest and the tailpiece is a Presto Tailpiece. This also has original Gibson D tuners with the Gibson logo. These are very rare and a very nice touch to the banjo. This has a nice sunburst finish with inlay on the headstock and fretboard. There is w/b/w binding on each side of the neck and resonator (white with a black pinstripe). This is a fantastic example of a Scruggs Standard banjo that was made during one of the best periods of Gibson Banjo production. This also has an original case and case key.

Condition

The banjo is in overall fantastic condition. It is important to note that there is about a one inch surface crack in the exterior veneer of the side of the resonator. Other than that this has nothing close to damage and that is a surface crack. There is a picture included in the ad. That does not effect structure or function at all.

Other than that the finish looks fantastic. The hardware looks incredible as well. The armrest does show a bit of wear but not much. The neck and fretboard are clean with clean frets. The first couple of frets show a hint of wear but not much at all. This is clean all over. The original hardshell case is also clean.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up here at the Banjo Warehouse. This has a new Huber frosted head by Remo, a Huber bridge with ebony cap and new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings. The head set to 90 on a drum dial all the way around the head. This has nice string height (action) which is fully adjustable. The banjo also has correct intonation. This looks great, sounds great and is professionally set up to play great as well. This is a great example of a Scruggs Standard that would make anyone happy.
