1994 Gibson RB250 5 string Banjo

This is a gorgeous 1994 Gibson RB250 that is nearly a Rich era and is a cannon. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This is an all original RB250 that was made right after the end of the Greg Rich era. The Greg Rich era is regarded as a very special time for Gibson and this banjo was made with a lot of the exact same parts as the Rich era Banjos and by a lot of the same people. This also is an exceptionally clean example of a Gibson RB250.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell. The neck and resonator are both mahogany. This has an ebony fretboard with a leaves and bows inlay pattern. There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator. This also has inlay work on the headstock including the Gibson logo.

The hardware is all original including a Gibson USA one piece flange and a Gibson USA Kulesh Tone Ring. The armrest is a one piece armrest and this has a Gibson engraved Presto Tailpiece. The tuners are all original Gibson Tuners.

This is a truly special banjo that will give someone all of the Gibson Banjo they want and more.

Condition

This was clean on the way in but we still professionally cleaned this banjo. We disassembled the banjo and buffed all of the metal with a high powered buffer and waxed the wood. This banjo has a nice shine. The resonator shows basically no wear and almost looks new. The neck and fretboard are also super clean. The frets look basically untouched and are original. There is a couple of small surface blemishes on the headstock by the 3rd string tuner which are pictured on Banjo Warehouse. These are minor, on the surface and are not anything to be concerned with. Other than those blemishes this is gorgeous all over. The case is also clean inside and out with no functional issues.

Set Up

This banjo has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse as well. This has a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial. The bridge is a Sosebee bridge and the banjo has correct intonation. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set nicely. This is also fully adjustable.

This is a fantastic design from a fantastic year that is in fantastic condition with all the best parts. This is a powerful banjo that will keep up with any level of playing. This has the classic bluegrass twang and more options with the D tuners. This is the perfect Gibson package that is going to make some player very happy!
