This is a gorgeous and all original 1995 RB250 with an original case.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

The RB250 is the workhorse of the Gibson Mastertone Banjos.  This is essentially the same banjo as an RB3 but with a fiddle headstock, ebony fretboard and no concentric rings on the resonator.  This banjo is a cannon.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a mahogany neck and resonator. The fretboard is ebony with a leaves and bows inlay pattern.  The hardware is all original and nickel.  This includes a Gibson USA one piece flange and a Gibson USA Kulesh Tone Ring.  There is white binding on the neck and resonator and the tuners are original 5 star planetary tuners.

The mid 1990’s were an exceptional time at Gibson.  This wasn’t too far from the Rich era and the production methods were basically the same.  This banjo is an absolute cannon and this is the banjo to get for the Mastertone lover that doesn’t want to spend $5000.  This includes a new Superior Hardshell Case.

Condition

This is in fantastic shape and has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse.  The finish on the resonator has a lot of checking which is normal for this period.  The checking was really tough to get pictured but the finish does have a coat of light checking.  There also is some light fret wear but only on the first few frets. Other than that the banjo is immaculate.

The banjo has been disassembled and all of the metal buffed to look new.  The wood has all been waxed which also shines.  The fretboard is clean and most of the frets look new.  There are spikes at the 7th-10th frets.  The original case is clean.

Set Up

This has also been set up at the Banjo Warehouse.  The banjo has a new Huber frosted head by Remo which is set to 90.  The bridge is set with correct intonation.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the banjo plays great.  This is truly a workhorse cannon that plays like butter.
