Description

The Earl Scruggs 49 Classic is a copy of a banjo that was used by Earl Scruggs. This is a copy of a Granada that had nickel hardware and a rosewood fretboard with a bowtie inlay. This is a very popular and very rare banjo and this is a great example of a 49 Classic.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a curly maple neck and resonator each with nice flame. The hardware is nickel and is all original. That includes a Gibson USA one piece flange and a Gibson USA Kulesh Tone Ring. The fretboard is rosewood with a bowtie inlay and the neck and resonator both have w/b/w binding. This is beautiful and all original and has a beautiful Gibson Hardshell Case.

Condition

This is in great shape and has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse. The hardware all has nice shine and the finish also is clean and shiny. The banjo shows very little sign of actual use including a clean fretboard with clean frets. There are spikes at the 7th-9th frets. This is in great shape and the case is also super clean.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse. We put a new Huber Head and set it to 90 on a drum dial. The bridge is a new Dotson Bridge and is set with correct intonation. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the banjo plays great! This is also fully adjustable with a truss rod and 2 coordinator rods.

This is a powerful banjo with some beautiful tone and these are not easy to come by.
