1996 Gibson Earl Scruggs 49 Classic 5 string Banjo

This is a gorgeous and all original Gibson Earl Scruggs 49 Classic 5 string Banjo with Original Case. This has been inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This is a copy of a banjo that was played by Earl Scruggs. This banjo is a Granada with nickel hardware and bowtie inlay.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell. The resonator is flamed maple and this has nickel hardware. This has a flamed maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. The fretboard has a Bowtie inlay which looks really classy. This has a one piece armrest and a Presto tailpiece. The tone ring is a Gibson USA ring made by Richard Kulesh and this has a Gibson USA flange. Both are stamped. Finally there is a set of Keith D tuners.

This banjo is all original and includes an original case. There is a chance the Keith tuners were put on aftermarket but they could also be original. This is a very rare banjo that is very desirable and has a very special sound. This banjo also includes an original Gibson Hardshell Case.

Condition

This is in fantastic condition. This banjo was definitely played lightly. The only real wear is some minor wear on the first few frets. The rest of the banjo is gorgeous. The finish and the wood look excellent. The hardware is clean and really glows. The neck and fretboard are both clean as well. The tuners are clean and this looks fantastic all the way around. This also has a very clean original hardshell case that still has a combination lock that hasn’t been set.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up here at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia. This has a new Huber frosted head by Remo which is set to 90 on a drum dial. The banjo has correct intonation. The action is set up to play great while still pulling a lot of tone out of the banjo. This is a great looking and rare banjo that has been professionally set up to play and sound incredible.
