1996 Gibson RB3 5 string Banjo

This is as 1996 Gibson RB3 that had a crack on the resonator which has been fixed but still needs a patch of finish. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This is definitely a fantastic opportunity for someone that wants a mid 90’s Gibson Banjo because this is not only functional it has upgraded Rickard Tuners (those are over $200 alone). This has a Kulesh Tone Ring and is all original other then the tuners. This was dropped in the shop and the bottom of the resonator was cracked which was repaired. There is still a patch of finish missing but that is on the underside of the banjo and this has no structural issues and is set up.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a mahogany neck and resonator. The fretboard is rosewood with a Leaves and Bows inlay. The hardware is nickel and all original and includes a Gibson USA One piece flange and a Gibson USA Kulesh Tone Ring. This has white binding on each side of the neck and resonator which has yellowed and the armrest is an original one piece armrest and this has the original Presto Tailpiece. This banjo is absolutely ready to rock and includes a thick padded gig bag.

Condition

Other then the crack this banjo is in fantastic shape and has been professionally cleaned at our shop. The banjo has been disassembled and all of the hardware buffed to a shine. There is a heavy coat of checking on the finish on the resonator but the finish has been waxed and shines as well. The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled and the frets look great with spikes at frets 7 and 9. This is in great shape and the gig bag is also in great shape.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse. This has a new frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge is a Grover and the strings are new Huber Truetone .10’s. This is definitely set up for power and this is a phenomenal player as well.
