1996 Gibson RB4 5 string Banjo

This is a gorgeous Walnut 1996 Gibson RB4 5 string Banjo with original Gibson Case.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a walnut neck and resonator.  The resonator has gorgeous burled walnut along with the standard style 4 concentric rings.  The fretboard is rosewood with a Flying Eagle inlay on the board.  The hardware is nickel and all original including a Gibson USA One piece flange and an original Gibson JD Crowe tone ring.  This tone ring is original to this banjo and the numbers on the ring and rim match.   The armrest is a one piece armrest and the tailpiece is a Presto, both are original.  This also includes a clean original hardshell case.

RB4 Banjos are definitely not the easiest to come by and this is even more rare with the original Crowe Tone Ring.  This banjo has got some major tone and nice volume and looks and plays wonderfully as well.

Condition

This is in fantastic shape and has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse.  The only wear I can find is checking on the face of the headstock, some on the back of the neck and more on the neck heel.  This is just finish checking but it is there.  Other then that the banjo is in exceptionally clean shape.

We disassembled the banjo and buffed all of the metal with a high powered buffing wheel to a shine.  The finish has been waxed and also shines.  The frets are in great shape and the board has been cleaned and oiled.  There are spikes at frets 7 and 9.  This is definitely clean and includes a clean original case.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse as well.  The head is a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90.  This has a Snuffy Smith bridge and new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.  This banjo is a phenomenal player that reaks of style 4 tone and has plenty of volume!!
