1997 Gibson RB3 Reno 5 string Banjo

This is a stunning Gibson RB3 Reno from the mid 1990’s. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This is called an RB3 Reno because this has the same Flying Eagle inlay that was used on Don Reno’s Banjo. This is a fantastic example of one of these banjos, in clean and all original condition.

This has a standard 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a mahogany neck and resonator. There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator. The fretboard is rosewood and this has a Flying Eagle inlay that goes to the face of the headstock and includes the Gibson logo. The hardware is nickel and all original including a Gibson USA one piece flange and a Gibson USA Kulesh Tone Ring. This is a fantastic banjo that sounds incredible, lots of volume and this really pops and bangs! You wanna talk about peel the paint off the walls. This also includes the original hardshell case, sales receipt and original warranty card.

Condition

This was clean on the way in but has also been professionally cleaned at our shop. We disassembled the banjo and buffed all of the hardware until it shined. The finish is in fantastic shape and has been waxed to also bring out a shine. The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled and the frets are nearly perfect. There are spikes at frets 7,9 and 10. This is super clean and was likely stored under a bed but now it looks brand spanking new. The case is also in exceptional condition and even the red plastic strip for the combination lock is still present.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse. This has the original Remo frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge is a Snuffy Smith bridge. The banjo has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and this is set up to play like magic. This is a phenomenal banjo that plays great, sounds great and appears to be new!!! These are also very rare. This is the RB3 to get and I am kidding in no way when I say this is clean and powerful. Git R Done.
