Description

This is a copy of an RB3 that JD Crowe played for a long time.  This is mahogany with nickel hardware.  The neck is also mahogany with a rosewood fretboard.  The neck has a flying eagle inlay pattern.  There is a JD Crowe signature on the truss rod cover.  In addition JD Crowe hand signed the label inside the rim.  There is also a JD Crowe tone ring that is the magic of this banjo.  This is a fantastic copy of one of the greatest Pre War Gibson Banjos ever made.  This has rare original Gibson Banjo strings.  This also includes a deluxe archtop hardshell case.

Condition

The banjo is in fantastic condition and looks almost untouched.  The finish on the resonator has checking which is the most serious wear.   There is also some sort of spotting on the neck by the headstock.  The hardware looks new!!!  The neck also looks fantastic and the fretboard is clean.  The frets do have typical light wear on the first few frets but are fat all the way down the fretboard.  This is a gorgeous banjo.  There are spikes in the 7th and 9th frets.  The case is also very clean.  This case was made by the same company that made Gibson cases during this time.  The banjo is set up and it plays and sounds incredible.

Set Up

The banjo has been set up here at the shop.  The banjo has nice action which produces great tone.  This has lots of volume.  The banjo has proper intonation.  The head is set to 90 on a drum dial all the way around the head.  This has a new Huber frosted head and Gibson 5/8 bridge with an ebony cap.  The banjo has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.  This plays great and sounds incredible!
