Super RARE 1998 Gibson RB12 5 string top tension banjo one owner and all original with the original warranty paperwork and original hardshell case. This is RARE,they did not make many top tensions at all. This has been fully set up and inspected here at the Banjo Warehouse and includes our Full Satisfaction Guarantee.
This is a walnut top tension with a rosewood fretboard. The fretboard and headstock are both fully bound and the fretboard has abalone inlay going up the fretboard which looks great. The banjo has chrome hardware and is made in the top tension style which was originally developed so traveling banjo players could adjust their instrument daily if necessary because a hyde head stretched so much. There also is a deeper bowl to the resonator which projects sound like a music speaker. These banjos are LOUD and that is no joke at all. The sound projects.
As far as condition this banjo was a one owner banjo that was well taken care of. There are some very light marks on the resonator that you can’t see unless you are looking closely under light. I would describe these marks as super light button scratches. The first few frets also have some wear which is so common amongst banjos. The wear pretty much stops at the 7th fret. There are spikes at the 7th and 9th frets.
These almost never come up for sale, so if you want one you probably already know they just aren’t easy to find. This is especially true now that Gibson doesn’t make banjos anymore. This 1998 Gibson RB12 5 string top tension banjo includes the original paperwork and a clean original hardshell case. If you have any questions at all please ask. Thanks!!!! CALL TODAY 404-372-5482
