1999 Frank Neat Sonny Osborne Chief 5 string Banjo

This is a very rare and no longer made Osborne Chief Banjo which is a beyond exceptional banjo.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

Frank Neat made a copy of the Granada played by Sonny Osborne and the result was astonishing.  A lot of players know just how special this banjo is and these rarely come up for sale.  This is all original and also includes the original custom leather strap that came with the banjo originally.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a curly maple neck and resonator.  The fretboard is rosewood with Hearts and Flowers and the back of the neck has been sanded down to a speed neck.  This is original and also does help to play faster.  The hardware is all gold and includes a one piece flange and a 20 hole tone ring.  This banjo is stunning and was lightly used.  This banjo will produce more tone then a Gibson Granada made at the same time.  This also includes a clean hardshell case.

Condition

This banjo is in stunning condition.  The gold is glowing and has been cleaned at our shop.  The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled with spikes at frets 7 and 9.  The first few frets do have some wear but nothing that creates functional issues and the rest of the frets are nearly perfect.  The finish looks great and the case is clean as well.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse.  This has a clean American Banjo Company frosted head which is set to 90.  The bridge is set with correct intonation.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the banjo plays GREAT!!  This is set up for maximum performance and I am kidding in no way when I say this is an exceptional banjo to begin with.
