1999 Gibson RB250 5 string Banjo

This is a late 1990’s Gibson RB250 that is all original with a very nice case.  This has been fully inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This was made in the 1990’s which was one of the finest eras in Gibson Banjo production.  The RB250 is also the best selling model for Gibson banjos because it has every piece of pop and bang of the higher models but can be bought at a fantastic price.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell.  The resonator is mahogany and this has nickel hardware.  The neck is also mahogany and this has an ebony fretboard.  The fretboard has a leaves and bows inlay pattern.  There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator.  This has a Gibson USA flange and also a Kulesh tone ring stamped Gibson USA.  This is all original with a one piece armrest and a Presto tailpiece.

This banjo has some major bang.  If you want to be heard this is the banjo for you.  The design has all of the classic tone that bluegrass players love and this is set up to maximize tone and volume.  This also includes a very nice TKL hardshell case.

Condition

This banjo is definitely in great shape.  The wood and finish look great and the hardware is also super clean.  The metal is truly glowing.  The neck and fretboard are also clean with frets that are in good shape.  There is a touch of wear on the first few frets but that is common and minor.  There are spikes at the 7th and 9th frets.  The only real blemish on this is some sort of rubbing happened on a spot on the side of the resonator near the bottom.  This is pictured and is also minor.  That is just in the finish.  That also would be very easy and cheap to correct.  This is definitely in great shape and also has a hardshell case that is in great shape.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.  This has a frosted Remo head that has been set to 90 on a drum dial.  The bridge is a Snuffy Smith bridge that has correct intonation.  The action is set up for fast playing and also great volume.  This is not only a stellar model in great shape this has been professionally set up to give the best banjo experience.
