1999 Gibson RB250 Left Handed 5 string Banjo

This is a super rare Gibson RB250 Left Handed Banjo. This is about as rare as they come. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

All left handed Gibson Banjos were special orders so it is very unusual to find any Gibson Banjo that is a lefty. This is a great example of a lefty Gibson that is definitely in great shape.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell. The neck and resonator are both mahogany. The hardware is nickel and this is all original. This has a one piece armrest and Presto Tailpiece and an original Gibson USA flange and Kulesh tone ring. The fretboard is ebony with a leaves and bows inlay pattern. There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator. This is absolutely gorgeous, all original and has top of the line parts.

The fact this is a Lefty is massive. These almost never come up for sale. I have seen 650 used banjos go through here in 2 years and this is only the second left handed RB250. These never come up for sale and this is a great example of one.

Condition

There is a crack on the side of the resonator that effects nothing. I do have a picture of that. Other than that this banjo is immaculate.

We disassemble every banjo that comes through here and do a professional cleaning. The hardware all glows as a result of this. This definitely looks fantastic. The wood and finish look great as well. This shows very little wear at all. The neck and fretboard are very clean and in great shape with overall clean frets. The first few frets show a hint of wear but it is minor and only the first few frets. There are no spikes or 5th string capo and there never was any. This is significant because a serious player would have to have those so this couldn’t have been played that hard. We can install spikes if you would like.

The case is also super clean. The inside satin sash has a slight disconnect so it’s not perfect but it’s there and is clean. The combination lock is also missing.

This is in great shape and is a great example of a left handed Gibson Banjo.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse. This has a new Huber frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial. This has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings which are set with correct intonation. The action also feels great and is fully adjustable. This is not only rare, clean, and all original this is professionally set up to sound and play like a dream. These do not come up for sale often.
