1999 Stelling Sunflower 5 string Banjo

This is a gorgeous Stelling Banjo that is all original and in fantastic shape. This is very similar to a Scruggs Standard banjo or the Granada played by Earl Scruggs. This has been set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

This is a curly maple banjo with nickel hardware. The neck is also curly maple with an ebony fretboard. The quality of the maple on this banjo is astounding. The fretboard has a special Stelling Hearts and Flowers inlay. The neck and resonator both have white binding on each side. There is a one piece Stelling Armrest and a Stelling tailpiece. This is an exceptional banjo that is all original with an original Stelling Hardshell Case.

Condition

The banjo is in great shape. The metal is showing some very light tarnish. This is very minor. And it’s about the extent of the wear. The finish on the resonator and neck looks great. The fretboard is clean with good looking inlays. There is some light wear on the first few frets but it is truly minor. The rest of the frets are near perfect. The banjo is in fantastic all original condition. The original case is also clean.

Set Up

This was professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse. This has a clean frosted Remo Head and Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings. The bridge is a Gary Sosebee 5/8 bridge. This is set up with nice action that can be played fast. The action still produces a lot of volume and tone. There are spikes at the 7th-10th frets. The banjo is also properly intonated. Finally the head has been set to 90 on a drum dial.
