This is a Gibson RB12 Banjo from 2000. This is all original and has been set up and inspected here at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This is a Top Tension with a walnut resonator and nickel hardware. The neck is also walnut with a rosewood fretboard. The fretboard has very attractive fret markers inlaid as well as some great looking inlay on the fretboard. This is all original with a Clam Shell Tailpiece. This has a Gibson USA Kulesh Tone Ring which is a huge plus. The fretboard is radiused. The top tension banjos are some of the loudest and most present banjos that have ever been made. They also are heavy banjos but this tone can not come from any other design. This also includes a clean original Gibson hardshell case.

Condition

This is in fantastic condition. The resonator is really clean. A lot of the resonators for top tension banjos have warped due to the unusual resonator design. This resonator has not warped. The neck and fretboard are also clean. The frets themselves show virtually no wear. Even the first few frets are extraordinarily clean. There are spikes at the 7th and 9th frets. This is absolutely gorgeous and was definitely well taken care of.

Set Up

This has been set up here at the Banjo Warehouse. This has comfortable action with correct intonation. I took the banjo apart and cleaned it and put a new Huber Frosted Head on. This also has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings. The bridge is a Snuffy Smith bridge which is radiused. This lines up with the radiused fretboard. The head is set to 90 on a drum dial all the way around the head. This is professionally set up and plays great. These RB12 banjos do not come up for sale often. This is all original, super clean, and plays and sounds fantastic.
