2000 Gibson RB250 5 string Banjo

This is a 2000 Gibson RB250 Banjo.  This was owned by Eli Johnston of Doyle Lawson and was used on the Roundtable album.  The banjo has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This is an original Gibson RB250 that was made in 2000 and is all original.  This happens to have a very, very rare original Gibson USA Tone Ring that was made by Steve Huber.  The mark to identify this is the Gibson USA is stamped under the neck heel as opposed to under the tailpiece.  This is a very special banjo.

The shell is a 3 ply hard rock maple shell and the neck and resonator are mahogany.  The fretboard is ebony and has a Leaves and Bows inlay pattern.  The hardware is nickel and all original including a full size Gibson USA 20 hole tone ring and a Gibson USA one piece flange.   The tuners are 5 star planets which is another nice point.  This is a super cool and special original Gibson Banjo that has a nice hardshell case.

Condition

This is in great shape and has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse.  This has been disassembled and the hardware has been buffed with a high powered buffer to a nice shine.  The finish was already clean but we waxed that to a shine as well.  The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled.  The frets are in good shape with only minor wear on the first few frets.  Most of the frets look untouched.  This has spikes in frets 7 and 9.  The banjo is in great shape and the case is clean as well.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.  The head is a new Remo Frosted Head which is set to 90.  The bridge is marked W which I don’t know anything about but the bridge is clearly a top quality bridge.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and this plays GREAT!!!

This is a really cool banjo that has been prepared to glow and bang and pop.
