2001 Gibson Earl Scruggs 49 Classic 5 string Banjo

This is a gorgeous and all original 2001 Gibson Earl Scruggs 49 Classic with Original Case.  This has been fully inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This is a super cool copy of a banjo that was played by Earl Scruggs for many years.  This is essentially a Granada but with nickel hardware and bowtie inlay.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell.  The resonator is flamed maple and the hardware is nickel.  The neck is also flamed maple and this has a rosewood fretboard. The fretboard has a bowtie inlay which is not only cool and attractive it is unique.  This also has a Hearts and Flowers inlay on the headstock along with the Gibson logo.  The reason for this is the banjo that Earl Scruggs played originally had a Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern and this is a copy of that banjo.  This is all original.  This has a Gibson USA Flange and a Gibson USA tone ring made by Richard Kulesh.  The tone ring is a big deal and Kulesh rings are regarded as some of the best tone rings that have ever been made.  This is beautiful and includes a super clean hardshell case.

Condition

This is in really good shape and was obviously well taken care of.  The finish and wood look fantastic.  The resonator basically looks new.  The hardware has a really nice glow to it and is definitely super clean.  The neck and fretboard look great and show basically no wear also.  The frets are super clean all the way down the board.  This has spikes at the 7th and 9th frets.  This is clean all the way around and includes a clean original case.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.  This has a new Huber frosted head by Remo which has been set to 90 on a drum dial.  This also has a new Huber bridge and new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.  The banjo has been correctly intonated.  The action is set nicely for fast playing and maximum tone.  This is a stellar banjo that has been well taken care of and has been set up to professional standards.
