Geoff Hohwald has been playing banjo since the 1960’s. He became active in the thriving bluegrass community in Ohio as a teenager while studying at Ohio State University. He has played professionally as a guitarist and banjo player with several bluegrass bands ever since. Geoff moved to Atlanta after college and co-founded the Watch and Learn publishing company. They now publish a full line of musical instrument instruction books and digital modules. He also owned several music stores in Atlanta from the 1980s through the mid-2000s and is still an active participant in the musical instrument re-sale community in the southeast.
Banjo Warehouse is a family business resulting from 50 years of experience in music and 40 years of experience in musical instrument retail sales and education. Our focus is on the 5-string flathead banjo, but we also occasionally have a good selection of guitars and mandolins (and other folk instruments).

Once a staple in early twentieth-century banjo orchestras and clubs, the cello banjo disappeared by 1930. Gold Tone has brought it back, collaborating with string wizard Marcy Marxer to develop the CEB-4 cello banjo.
In late 2018, "Banjo Ben" Clark, Jake Stogdill, and Robby Boone had a concept for replicating one of the most iconic banjos, played by one of the most iconic banjo players of all time, JD Crowe's original RB-3 ("Banger"). After extensive research and great attention to every detail, Gold Tone was able to rebirth this classic banjo as the OB-3.
The Madison RK-R35 gives banjo players a high-quality, great-sounding banjo with a classic Mastertone-style bell brass cast tone ring and one-piece flange. The Recording King Madison RK-R35 is built around the Recordking King 3-ply steam bent maple rim, using the same rim and hardware as in the best-selling RK-ELITE-75 (a $2000 banjo).
We set about creating a worthy modern evocation of this tremendous old banjo: the Gold Tone OB-2 Bowtie. The feature set resembles the original banjo: a mahogany neck, maple resonator, beautiful golden sunburst finish, and even a nineteen-hole flathead tone ring. Updated features include superb-quality Gotoh machine heads, the renowned Dotson bridge, a Presto-style tailpiece, and dual coordinator rods for precise adjustment.
A complete package designed for the novice clawhammer picker, The Gold Tone CC-OTA has everything you need to start thumping that head. The Remo Fiberskyn head itself is mounted on a sweet banjo with a half-inch-thick maple rim topped with a rolled-brass hoop (very Old Timey).
The Calico is one of my favorite Deering banjos in this price range. It has an attractive blonde curly maple neck and resonator with nickel plated metal parts including a full-weight brass flathead tone ring.
