2001 Stelling Sunflower 5 string Banjo

This is a gorgeous 2001 Stelling Sunflower Banjo which is in great shape.  This has been fully inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

Geoff Stelling was inducted into the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame last year and his banjos have gotten nearly impossible to find.  We are searching high and low to get any Stelling Banjos we can find just to have them.  This is a fantastic example of a top quality Stelling Banjo.

This has a curly maple neck and resonator with nickel hardware.  The fretboard is ebony and has a gorgeous flower inlay.  The headstock also has inlay including the Stelling logo.  Stelling is engraved on every metal part somewhere.  The tension hoop, flange, tailpiece and armrest all have Stelling engraved.  There is w/b/w binding on each side of the neck and resonator.  The banjo is all original except for new tuning keys that we had to put on and I believe it has been refretted.

This is absolutely gorgeous and includes a new Guardian Hardshell Case.

Condition

The banjo is definitely in great shape and has been cleaned at our shop.  There are a couple of marks on the back of the headstock from a tuner (probably) and one mark on the face of the headstock.  These are so minor you have to angle the banjo in the right light to see these at all.  The fretboard also has some marks which can only be seen in certain light which are right by a few of the frets.

This has been disassembled and professionally cleaned here.  The metal has been buffed to a nice shine and the wood has been waxed.  The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled as well.  The finish and hardware basically look new other then the minor marks mentioned.  There was once a 5th string capo which was taken off which left two pin sized holes on the bass side of the neck and there are no spikes.  We can add spikes if you want.

This banjo is gorgeous.  The case is new and is also in fantastic shape.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse also.  This has a new Remo frosted head which has been set to 90.  The bridge is a Scorpion Bridge and is intonated.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set to play fast.  This banjo is set up to play with lots of volume and tone.
