2002 Gibson Banjo Earl Scruggs Standard Left Handed

This is an all original and very rare Lefty Scruggs Standard. This had to be a special order at Gibson and is one of the only Scruggs Standard Left Handed Banjos that can be bought. This has been set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

This is a copy of the banjo played by Earl Scruggs for many years. This has a curly maple build with a 3 ply hard rock maple shell. The hardware is nickel. The neck is also curly maple with an ebony fretboard. The fretboard has a Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern. There is one extra inlay at the first fret because the Scruggs banjo had that. This is all original with a one piece armrest and Presto Tailpiece. This also has a Kulesh tone ring which is a big deal. The Kulesh tone rings are some of the best tone rings ever made. This has spikes at frets 7,9,10 and 12. The banjo looks great and also has a very clean original hardshell case.

Condition

This is gorgeous. The finish all shines and the hardware is glowing. There is about an inch on the tension hoop that shows brass instead of the nickel. Other than that all the metal is basically perfect. The neck is clean with a clean fretboard. The frets are nearly perfect with only a hint of wear on the first few frets. This is clean inside and out with a clean original case.

Set Up

This has been cleaned and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse. This has nice string height (action) which can be adjusted. The banjo has proper intonation. The head is set to 90 on a drum dial all the way around the head. The head is a new Huber frosted head and this has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings. The bridge has a stamp with the letter L and has an ebony cap. This looks great, sounds great and is set up to sound great. This is a very special banjo for a Lefty that could be impossible to find even later on.
